Volcom’s Wild In The Parks #2

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Volcom rolled through the vast Texas expanse and stopped by the Southside Skatepark for the second of the Wild in the Park contest series. Check out this video of these kids destroying their local park and battling it out for top ranks. Definitely some rippers.

Searching Google for Skatemission

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Yes, I am a nerd and wanted to see how SkateMission.com ranked on a Google search. Surprisingly enough, I found this older Volcom video of Remy and Steve Stratton’s trip with Rune Glifberg, Mark Appleyard, Collin Provost, Ivan Rivado, Alain Goikoetxea and Han Claessens skating the Black Pearl Skatepark in the Cayman Islands. The boys skated under the hot sun at the park and chilled on the beautiful Caribbean island and this is a little sneak peak of all the action. Music by Sounder and ASG.

Pretty fun little video that totally distracted me from what I was actually doing. Also interesting in my Google search of SkateMission I found a comapny called Mission that makes inline hockey skates (fruit boots)……huh. Who knew?

031609walls_rune800x600VOLCOM TO ISSUE LIMITED EDITION PEARL JAM T-SHIRT AND 7-INCH VINYL

Costa Mesa, CA, March 10, 2009 - To coincide with Pearl Jam’s previously announced reissue of their debut album, Ten, on March 24, 2009, Volcom will release a limited edition Pearl Jam/Volcom tee shirt and 7” record featuring smokin’ live versions of “Even Flow” and “Porch” on Volcom Entertainment.  Both tracks are extended live versions of the original studio recordings, stretching into the seven-minute range.  “Even Flow” was recorded in August 2005 at Adam’s Fieldhouse in Missoula, MT and “Porch” was recorded in July 2006 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, OR.  Both the tee shirt and 7” record will be available at select Volcom retailers as well as online at www.volcoment.com <http://www.volcoment.com> .

With the relationship between Pearl Jam and Volcom dating back to the early-90’s, Volcom Chairman/CEO Richard Woolcott calls this collaboration “a special project for us that brings the relationship with Pearl jam full circle”. He also adds, “I can’t help but smile when thinking back on all the good times we shared together. Whether it was the “Day in the Dirt” weekends in Seattle or rocking to live shows in Hawaii, Pearl Jam has always been close to our hearts”.

Ten, the debut album that sold 12 million copies and introduced the world to Pearl Jam in 1991, will be reissued in four (4) new and expanded editions.  Pre-orders of the Super Deluxe Edition began in December, 2008, through the band’s Ten Club at www.pearljam.com <http://www.pearljam.com> , with all four editions available at retail on March 24, 2009. The reissue of Ten serves as the launch of a planned two-year catalogue re-release campaign leading up to the band’s 20th anniversary in 2011.

Each Ten package will include two versions of the album: the remastered version of the original album PLUS an accompanying remixed version done by the band’s long-time producer, Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Audioslave).  Details on specific extras for each of the four packages can be found online at www.pearljam.com <http://www.pearljam.com> .

ABOUT TEN
Pearl Jam released Ten on August 27, 1991. The album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, sold over 12 million copies and became one of the cultural touchstones of the 1990s. Songs such as “Alive,” “Black,” “Even Flow” and “Jeremy” became staples of rock radio, and still make frequent appearances on the band’s ever-changing concert setlists. The album was produced by Rick Parasher. Pearl Jam’s 1991 lineup was Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (guitar), Dave Krusen (drums), Mike McCready (guitar) and Eddie Vedder (vocals).
