St. Valentines Day Massacre!

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

A bunch of Local Portland companies – this will be kinda like the Van’s downtown showdown… should be ridiculously sick since we’re going to build something that spans the gap between the street course and the mini ramp!

Go Skateboarding Day, June 21

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

goskate1

Ahh, yes. It is that time again. The day when it is virtually impossible to go to the skate park and actually get some lines in cause it is so busy. Sorry, I am being a pessimist. This is a great day to get the half-assers out on their boards. That can’t be bad, right? So to all of those out there who weren’t planning on getting a skate in on June 21st, get off your lazy duffs and “GO SKATE!”

Have a great Go Skateboarding day!

It’s All Good In Girdwood

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I have landed and am now in the great state of Alaska. First stop off of the plane was a half hour south of Anchorage to the town of Girdwood. This is where Alyeska Ski Resort is, pretty cool town. Here are a few quick pics of the mildly sketchy warped wood skate park. Also, I highly recommend the Elk burger at the Chair 5 restaurant.

Travel to AK

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Travel, yes travel. As I write this I am sitting in seat 29A on a flight to Alaska. Why, to skate of course. Actually I am taking a little vacation and flying up to AK to meet up with my brother and then drive back down to Oregon so he can hang out for the summer. Along this trip we plan on doing a little fishing, camping, and yes skateboarding.

We plan on hitting the Homer and Anchorage skate parks first and then who knows. That is the beauty of being now unemployed and on the road. I will do my best to keep you all updated on our journey and hopefully put up some pics of Alaska’s finest skate parks. Oxymoron? Not sure.

Stay tuned and be patient. And if anyone knows of any skate spots we should hit please let me know.

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Here is some of the action from the Marginal Way Benefit that went down 2 weeks ago. This is a very cool project that you can check out at Marginal Way Skatepark and feel free to donate some coin to keep this Seattle DIY skate park running.

Bacon Skateboards

bacon-products1
I stopped by Bacon Skateboards yesterday to grab a new deck for my self and a couple of buddies. This is not my first http://baconskateboards.com/products nor will it be my last. I really like the wider wheel base that is available on some of the wider waist width decks. The added length feels super stable under foot especially when riding bigger transition. For those of you who don’t like that they offer traditional waist widths and wheel bases for you as well.

For all of the Northwest skaters, support local and give Bacon a try. And for those of you who are not up in “Gods Country (NW)” hit up your local skate retailer and get your Bacon deck there. If they can’t get one, then turn to your trusty friend the internet and get one from your favorite online retailer. I have had good luck with Skate Warehouse. But that is just me. Have fun and go skate.

Thanks for the hookup Colin and Tim.

Searching Google for Skatemission

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Yes, I am a nerd and wanted to see how SkateMission.com ranked on a Google search. Surprisingly enough, I found this older Volcom video of Remy and Steve Stratton’s trip with Rune Glifberg, Mark Appleyard, Collin Provost, Ivan Rivado, Alain Goikoetxea and Han Claessens skating the Black Pearl Skatepark in the Cayman Islands. The boys skated under the hot sun at the park and chilled on the beautiful Caribbean island and this is a little sneak peak of all the action. Music by Sounder and ASG.

Pretty fun little video that totally distracted me from what I was actually doing. Also interesting in my Google search of SkateMission I found a comapny called Mission that makes inline hockey skates (fruit boots)……huh. Who knew?
